Supporting Foster Carers Every Step of the Way
At Family Fostercare in Cumbria, we understand that fostering is more than just providing a home; it's about making a significant impact on the lives of children and young people. Our dedicated team is here to support foster carers throughout their journey, offering tailored advice, continuous training, and a community that truly cares.
Ongoing Training and Development
One of the cornerstones of our approach at Family Fostercare is the emphasis we place on the training and development of our foster carers. We believe that well-equipped and knowledgeable carers are essential in providing the highest standard of care for the children and young people we place. That's why we offer an extensive range of training programmes that cover everything from basic fostering skills to more specialised topics such as trauma-informed care and managing challenging behaviour. These sessions are designed to not only enhance your skills but also to give you the confidence to handle various situations with ease and understanding.
We also recognise that fostering can sometimes be demanding, and our training programmes are flexible to fit around your schedule. Whether you prefer in-person workshops at our Cumbria office or online courses that you can complete at home, we ensure that you have access to the resources you need, when you need them.
Community and Peer Support
Fostering can be a unique experience, full of both challenges and rewards. At Family Fostercare Cumbria, we believe that no foster carer should feel alone. Our local support groups offer a platform where foster carers can share their experiences, offer advice, and provide emotional support to one another. These groups are invaluable in creating a sense of community and belonging, which is crucial in the fostering journey.
In addition to our support groups, we also organise regular social events and activities for our fostering families. These gatherings are a great way for foster carers and children alike to build connections, have fun, and feel part of a larger, supportive family network. It's also an opportunity for foster carers to relax and recharge, knowing they are supported by a community that truly understands the unique demands of fostering Cumbria.
Tailored Support for Each Family
We know that every foster family is different, and so are the challenges they face. That’s why at Family Fostercare Cumbria, we offer tailored support that is responsive to the specific needs of each family. Whether it's through regular home visits, 24/7 helplines, or bespoke advice from our experienced team, we are committed to being there for you whenever you need us.
Our support doesn't stop with the foster carers. We also provide resources and assistance to birth children within the foster family, recognising the important role they play in welcoming foster children into their home. From fun activities to educational resources, we ensure that birth children are also supported throughout the fostering Cumbria journey.
